Cherry Blossom Girl

On Sunday I decided to ignore my wretched spring allergies and go to the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens for the last day of the Cherry Blossom Festival. It was packed, and lots of people dressed up for the occassion. It was like being in Japan for the day…

Speaking of Cherry Blossom Girls, has any one seen The Cherry Blossom Girl pour Etam? I wish they shipped to the US!

Stay tuned, there should be a big spike in posting now that it’s street style season (more specifically, not winter). I’m looking forward to being outside with my camera much, much more.

I think I’m done posting photos on Facebook. Except the inspiration album. Don’t worry, that one’ll stay. 🙂

Here are some photos from the last few weeks.

Twin Sister

I’m loving this band right now. I also have a total girl crush on the singer- she’s mesmerizing to watch. I saw them play at Mercury Lounge earlier this month, and am hoping to catch them again at CMJ.

You can download a bunch of their songs on their blog.

My favorite track right now is “All Around & Away We Go” – looks like a fan has made an impromptu video for it:

My good friend and extremely talented designer Sena also used one of their songs in a video following the production of her 2010 Lookbook. Featuring makeup by the beautiful Erin Green.

Their new album, Color Your Life, was released in March. You can see a few live videos on Pitchfork.

I’ve been hard at work these last couple months coordinating the 2010 apparel collection at Soundscreen Design. I have been fortunate enough to wrangle five amazing designers;

  • Slow and Steady Wins the Race
  • Rob Carmichael
  • Hisham Bharoocha
  • Samantha Pleet
  • Patent Pending (formed by Jesse LeDoux and Jeff Kleinsmith, creative director at Sub Pop)

Each designer is asked to pick two bands influential to them- the only rule being that it’s a band currently making music.

There will be ten original designs for ten awesome bands: Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Animal Collective, Atlas Sound, Beach House, HEALTH, Pantha du Prince, Chairlift, Band of Horses, TV on the Radio and one TBA (its a secret!).

We’re doing a staggered release for this collection, the first four by Hisham Bharoocha and Rob Carmichael. Hisham is well known as a member of Black Dice, Lightening Bolt, and his solo project Soft Circle as well as the creative director of the new Phosphorescence sunglasses line, featuring designs from Erin Wasson, No Age, Kim Gordon (Sonic Youth), Maria Cornejo, and more- you can grab these at Opening Ceremony. Rob has his own studio and record label in Brooklyn, and serves as Animal Collective’s go-to man, designing all their album art and packaging.

I’m pretty psyched to wear this Pantha du Prince tank.

You can check out the rest on our site-

Also, if you’re in the area on Thursday I’ll be holding it down at the Insound Warehouse sale where you can buy SSD merch and also Insound vinyl, posters, headphones, and all the audio accoutrement your little arms can carry. Oh, and there’s FREE BEER!
